DESIGNS
Making a stained glass work is a multi-staged process and has its
genesis in conceptualization and design. Following contact from a
potential client, we undertake a consultation to determine the thematic,
stylistic and technical parameters for the proposed work. We visit
the building to assess the architectural style and purpose of the
building, any other windows, natural and artificial light levels,
external obstructions, and specific engineering and technical requirements
for manufacture, transportation and installation. We then prepare
a design. This scale sketch is produced not only to give the client
a visual understanding of how the finished window will look, but
also to guide workers during manufacture and assist with estimating
cost. Some projects proceed, others do not.
The galleries to the right contain a range of commissioned projects including work for religious and secular environments. They have been selected to illustrate the diverse range of design responses conceived and undertaken. |
